New restaurant to be built at Carrick Hill by family behind Chianti and Bar Torino

SA Gov

The new casual restaurant and events space is just 8km away from Chianti and Bar Torino, where owners Frank and Maria Favaro have built an enviable reputation after bringing their Northern Italian heritage to Adelaide with a highly successful restaurant business spanning more than 40 years.

Beginning with the original Chianti in Light Square, they then moved to their current premises on Hutt Street with the next generation, Jess & Nick, now presiding over the restaurant and next-door Bar Torino.

Frank and Maria are delighted to see a project of this nature come to life under the watchful eye of daughter Jessica, who is leading the project.

With the new pavilion opening later this year, local, interstate, and overseas visitors will be rewarded with an unforgettable experience overlooking the magnificent house and gardens of Carrick Hill, as well as incredible city views.

The combination of stunning scenery with the quality of food that you would expect from a kitchen that will be run by British Head Chef Josh Cooke will create an unforgettable experience.

The Pavilion is taking shape, with structural steel now complete and external framing and roof sheeting currently underway.

The new restaurant and events space is scheduled to open in November 2023.

The Pavilion project has been made possible through $3 million in Australian Government funding under the Adelaide City Deal, support from the South Australian Government ($1 million) and the Carrick Hill Development Foundation ($3.265m million) via its fundraising and donation network.

Bringing Carrick Hill, a significant South Australian cultural attraction and Chianti, one of Adelaide’s most beloved restaurants, together is the perfect pairing.

It will attract food and history aficionados from near and far to this stunning location in the Adelaide Hills and I’m looking forward to seeing it open later this year.

The Haywards, who created Carrick Hill, were well known for their warm hospitality. They loved hosting parties and dinners in the company of family and good friends.

Similarly, the Favaros are renowned as wonderful hosts, for their love of food, and commitment to great service; we are delighted to bring this shared passion together for a new generation to enjoy Carrick Hill and its new Pavilion.

As put by Jessica Favaro-Richards, Chianti

This is a new step forward for the Favaro Group and we look forward to bringing our passion for quality food and warm Italian service to the stunning garden setting of Carrick Hill.

We will approach this new project with the same love and care we have for our current venues Chianti and Bar Torino, and are excited people will be able to enjoy great food in a beautiful surrounding only 10 minutes from the Adelaide CBD.
