New VCE Centre For Brentwood Secondary College

  • Minister for Education

Students in Glen Waverley will soon have access to the first-rate school facilities they deserve thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino today visited Brentwood Secondary College alongside Member for Mount Waverley Matt Fregon to announce the school would receive $4.6 million in the 2019-20 State Budget to build a new VCE centre.

The new VCE centre will replace the current VCE building, which will be demolished. The current building was partially damaged earlier this year as a result of a fire which also damaged a nearby relocatable building at the school.

This relocatable building will also be replaced with a new relocatable building during the July school holidays to minimise disruption to teachers and students.

The $4.6 million for Brentwood Secondary College is part of a record $1.82 billion investment into Victoria’s education infrastructure in this year’s State Budget – delivering on the Labor Government’s promise to make Victoria the Education State.

This record investment will also see a total of 100 new schools open over the next eight years under the Labor Government’s school building boom, ensuring every child has access to a great education, and every community has access to a great local school with exceptional teachers.

As stated by Minister for Education James Merlino

“We understand that VCE is an incredibly important time in a student’s life, and this new $4.6 million VCE centre will give students the best facilities to help them reach their potential.”

“We are delivering what we promised – making Victoria the Education State – with a record $1.82 billion investment in our school infrastructure, and our children’s future.”

As stated by Member for Mount Waverley Matt Fregon

“Projects like this VCE centre are an investment in the Brentwood Secondary College students of today and in the future, because we know students benefit greatly when learning in first-rate school facilities.”
