Young Tasmanians in the North-West will be better connected to the world of work through a new Youth Career Facilitator.
Minister for Skills, Training and Workforce Growth, Felix Ellis, said the delivery of the pilot program would improve connections between local industry, employers and schools to improve outcomes for students, employers and the community.
“We want to ensure that in the final years of school there is support and connections to help young people find a pathway that’s right for them as they work towards their career and life goals,” Minister Ellis said.
“We know that the best way to do this is through a local and personal approach which is the key to the success of the Regional Jobs Hub Network that has placed over 4000 Tasmanians into work.”
Damian Peirce has commenced as the North-West Youth Career Facilitator and will work in collaboration with the West North West Working Jobs Hub, and local employers and schools.
“The pilot will also contribute to the development of the Tasmanian Government’s Youth Jobs Strategy which aims to make it easier for young Tasmanians to access opportunities and support to navigate a pathway into work or training, like we have seen here at Alpha Electrics in Burnie,” Minister Ellis said.
All Tasmanians are invited to have their say on the Youth Jobs Strategy through a public consultation process that is open until 27 October 2023 at: youthjobsstrategy.tas.gov.au
