New year, new view – top spots to see Sydney’s fireworks

NSW Gov

Get a cracking harbourside view this New Year’s Eve by celebrating at one of six sites across magnificent national parks around Sydney Harbour.

Minister for Environment James Griffin said about 9,000 tickets were released for the festivities, with tickets still available for some of the best vantage points in Sydney.

“Many people don’t realise that some of our most dazzling Sydney harbourside locations are actually part of our national parks estate, and they host the best New Year’s Eve events in the city,” Mr Griffin said.

“For the ultimate Sydney New Year’s Eve, ring in 2023 on one of three of our national parks harbour islands – Shark Island, Clark Island or Me-Mel (Goat Island).

“Our harbour islands have uninterrupted views of the fireworks, food, drinks, or BYO picnic, and there’s a DJ at the Clark and Shark Island Parties.

“Or rock up at sunset to enjoy outstanding views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and fireworks at the Victorian-era Strickland House Estate in Vaucluse.

“There are plenty of family-friendly options too at Bradley’s Head and North Head, but get in quick because tickets are already selling out.

“There’s nothing better than farewelling 2022 in the centre of the action and surrounded by nature at one of our spectacular Sydney national parks events.”

For the first time since 2018, all six Sydney national parks harbour-side sites are open, offering events to suit all plans and budgets.

One event is free, with tickets at the other sites ranging in price from $23 to $285. Drinks and food vary at each site.
