Newport Lakes Primary School Unveils New Facilities

  • Minister for Education

Newport Lakes Primary School students will benefit from brand new facilities and classrooms to learn in, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino today visited Newport Lakes Primary School to officially open the $3.04 million upgrade.

The new facilities include four new classrooms, teaching and learning spaces, student toilets, and a music and multi-purpose hall.

The new classrooms provide modern learning spaces and the multi-purpose hall offers a dedicated music learning space and gym, offering greater opportunity for the students to develop new skills.

The Labor Government has invested $5.6 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades, supporting over 7500 construction jobs for Victorians.

A total of 100 new schools will open by 2026 under the Labor Government’s school building boom, ensuring every child has a great local school and a great start in life.

This building boom will continue over the coming years, with the government having already appointed builders to start delivering 11 schools across the state that will open in 2020.

As noted by Minister for Education James Merlino

“I am exceptionally proud to officially open Newport Lakes Primary School’s new facilities and classrooms. The upgrade will empower students at the school to thrive and excel in modern facilities and give them a greater chance to succeed.”

“Across Victoria, we are building and upgrading schools so our students have the best facilities, our classrooms have the best teachers and every child is given every chance to succeed.”

As noted by the Member for Williamstown Melissa Horne

“Newport Lakes Primary School is a great school filled with enthusiastic students keen to learn and be the best they can be and these new facilities will open even more opportunities for them.”
