Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, Transportation Secretary W. Sheppard Miller III, Lane Construction, industry and community partners joined us to celebrate the start of construction on the 495 NEXT project – a critical link in a growing network of Express Lanes we are helping to drive forward in the Greater Washington Area.
The 4 km (2.5 mile) project will provide new travel options, reduce congestion, fund new transit service and minimize cut-through traffic in residential communities – improving quality of life for travelers and communities. The project is an important link, setting the stage for the rebuild of the aging America Legion Bridge and the extension of Express Lanes into Maryland.
The project is expected to open in 2025.
