Dandenong Crime Investigation unit detectives are investigating following a theft in Noble Park on 27 November.
Investigators have been told an unknown man approached the female victim from behind and snatched her purse out of her hand on Buckley Street about 5.25pm.
The offender is perceived to have a tanned complexion and aged in his early 20s.
He was wearing a blue and grey striped t-shirt, light pants, white shoes and a blue Adidas cap.
Investigators have released images of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.
