Nominations are open from 10 – 15 August for City of Darwin’s Lyons Ward by-election.
City of Darwin Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said becoming an Elected Member was a great opportunity for locals to step up and take on an important and rewarding role in supporting and leading the views of residents in the area.
“Council’s Elected Members come from all walks of life, and they have a unique opportunity to represent the community where they live,” Mr Vatskalis said.
“Being able to make a difference at a grassroots level is incredibly satisfying and I encourage community-minded people to consider nominating,” he said.
The Lyons Ward’s suburbs include Bayview, Darwin City, Fannie Bay, The Gardens, Larrakeyah, Parap, Stuart Park and Woolner.
The by-election vote will take place on 2 September 2023, and all Lyons Ward residents must be enrolled by 15 August to vote.
It is compulsory to vote in any election in Australia if you are registered on the electoral role. You will be fined if you don’t vote.
