The Sydney Hills Local Business Awards returns in 2022, and The Hills Shire Council has jumped on board as a Major Partner of the long-running event, which recognises local Hills businesses doing exceptional work across the region and beyond.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi said it was fantastic that we can acknowledge and thank all our hard working business owners and their staff for everything they have done and continue to do for The Hills and further afield in NSW, Australia and abroad.
“The Hills has a strong business community which performs strongly on the world stage,” Mayor Gangemi said.
“Our business community has done incredibly well despite all the significant challenges they’ve endured over the past two years, and it is great to see so many thriving within their respective field.
“High achieving businesses deserve recognition for their efforts. Council is therefore proud to the support this worthwhile event and I wish every nominee the best of luck,” Mayor Gangemi added.
There are number of categories that residents can nominate a business for, including antiques, arts and crafts, cafes, early education, home improvement services, sole operators, travel agencies and many more. There’s also the coveted awards of Business Person of the Year, Youth Award and Business of the Year up for grabs on the night.
Council is also proud to introduce a new award category – Disability Inclusion Award. This category recognises business owners making their business more accessible and inclusive.
“One in five Australians has some kind of disability, so making your business more accessible and inclusive allows you to better meet the needs of your clients and ensure staff members with a disability are well-supported in their work-life,” Mayor Gangemi said.
“Council works hard to ensure we create a community that is inclusive and accessible for everyone, and we are very proud to acknowledge businesses that promotes these ideals,” he added.

Entries for these awards closes on Wednesday 10th August 2022, however the Disability Inclusion award category will remain open until Wednesday 7th September 2022.
Winners will be announced at the 2022 Sydney Hills Local Business Awards Gala Presentation Evening at Hornsby RSL Club on Tuesday 18th October 2022.
