Nominations now open for 2022 WasteSorted Awards

  • Individuals and organisations encouraged to share waste reduction success stories
  • Awards recognise innovative ways Western Australians reduce, reuse and recycle waste
  • Two new awards to be added this year including a Local Government Award and Waste Avoidance (Events) Award
  • Nominations are now open for the 2022 WasteSorted Awards, which celebrates local waste champions making positive change in Western Australia.

    Each year, the WasteSorted Awards acknowledge innovative solutions to reduce waste and meet the reuse and recycling targets in Western Australia’s Waste Strategy.

    Individuals, business and industry, government, schools, community organisations, not-for-profits and media outlets are encouraged to apply.

    The categories for 2022 include the:

    • Community Waste Award;
    • Commercial and Industrial Waste Award;
    • Waste Management Award;
    • Regional Waste Award;
    • Waste Champion;
    • Local Government Award (new);
    • Waste Team of the Year;
    • Waste Innovation of the Year;
    • WasteSorted School Award; and
    • Waste Avoidance (Events) Award (new).

    Nominations for the 2022 WasteSorted Awards are now open and will close at 5pm (WST) on Monday, February 15, 2022. Winners will be announced at a gala dinner award ceremony in May 2022.

    As stated by Environment Minister Reece Whitby:

    “Western Australians that create innovative ways to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste should be congratulated.

    “The WasteSorted Awards highlight Western Australia’s waste champions and the work being achieved in waste reduction.

    “I encourage Western Australians to nominate their waste reduction projects for the 2022 WasteSorted Awards.”
