The University of Notre Dame Australia has established an exciting new international strategic partnership with the Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP) that will open up global opportunities for students and staff across both universities, and enable Notre Dame Law students to undertake part of their studies in France.
“At Notre Dame we recognise the value of developing strong relationships at an international level for the benefit of our students and staff academically, as well as personally and professionally,” says Notre Dame’s incoming Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Campbell. “Partnerships like this one not only allow for the exchange of expertise in common areas of interest, but also offer students an invaluable educational experience that helps develop their skills and knowledge on a global scale.”
The agreement will facilitate a range of opportunities for student and staff mobility between the institutions and more specifically build a relationship between ICP and Notre Dame’s Schools of Law. Notre Dame will be launching a Master of Laws program in July 2020 and the partnership will allow students enrolled in this program to complete a semester of their studies taught in English at ICP, in the heart of Paris. In exchange, Notre Dame will open its doors to second-year students enrolled in ICP’s Master in International and European Business Law program, who will be able to undertake their second year of study in Australia.
These students will not only gain their Master of Laws degree with Notre Dame but also qualify for the requirements of the ICP Master of International and European Business Law, and therefore can graduate with dual qualifications.

Founded in 1875, ICP offers degrees in a range of study areas including Humanities, Philosophy, Theology, Canon Law, Education, Social Sciences and Economics. It is also home to four specialised institutes including the Institute of Training in Mediation and Negotiation. Going forward, there are plans for the Notre Dame-ICP alliance to be extended to include the delivery of a short-term student immersion program in Paris, academic visits, research collaborations and the enhancement of global industry partnerships.
