The 2019 Volunteer Welfare and Efficiency Survey, an initiative of Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria (VFBV), is now open to all CFA volunteers.

Now Open: 2019 Volunteer Welfare and Efficiency Survey

The Survey is now open, and aims to gain volunteer’s positions on seven different topics.

In its eighth year, the survey results allow an annual snapshot to be taken of volunteer opinion and welfare. Information gathered through the survey enables CFA to monitor the effectiveness of initiatives aimed at improving wellbeing and engagement across the state.

In 2018, there were 5,939 survey participants who took part nationally. Results showed that ‘People Management – My Brigade’ and ‘Recruitment and Retention’ were areas closest to meeting expectations of the volunteer; while ‘Training by CFA’ and ‘Cooperation Across CFA’ were furthest from meeting expectations of the volunteer.

A full report on last year’s results can be found on VFBV’s website here.

It is the largest survey of its kind in Australia and has become critical in monitoring short and long-term trends for CFA initiatives and programs. It continues to be an important and reliable method to capture achievements and improvements, as well as addressing areas that are the cause of dissatisfaction for volunteers.

The survey is estimated to take between 10-15 minutes to complete and is made up of 33 questions chosen by volunteers. CFA encourages all members to take part in the survey.
