NRL confirmed as 2019 Australian HR Awards Finalist

The National Rugby League (NRL) has been confirmed as a finalist in the “best workplace for diversity and inclusion” category, as part of the 2019 Australian HR Awards.

The Awards (20 categories in total) will be presented in September, with the NRL among a host of best-practice organisations named as finalists today.

NRL Manager of Diversity and Inclusion, Casey Conway said the game had matured across many areas in recent years, but particularly in recognising and nurturing diversity amongst its staff and in providing an inclusive and desirable workplace to be part of.

“Rugby League has been a constant in my life for many years, first as a player and now as someone that works in the game,” Mr Conway said.

“For me, the NRL is a workplace that provides our people with the opportunities to bring their authentic self to work every day. This is also facilitated by programs that focus on welcoming migrants, championing gender quality and respectful relationships. Maintaining a value of inclusiveness and respect at the heart of everything we do.”

NRL Head of People & Culture, Rebecca Doyle added the NRL had made significant changes and improvements amongst its workforce to ensure employees felt welcomed and supported.

“Being recognised as a finalist in this category reflects the focus the organisation has had on ensuring our workforce represents those who play and love the game,” Ms Doyle said.

“With a focus on embracing our difference, this makes us a safe and inclusive workplace.”

NRL Chief Executive, Todd Greenberg said he was proud to lead an organisation that was recognised as a leading inclusive and diverse workplace.

“Being named as a finalist is a well-deserved achievement for our people & culture team,” Mr Greenberg said.

“We have made significant headway in the last few years to ensure that our staff feel valued, supported and included in all aspects of our business and we will continue to provide the best quality of workplace opportunities for our current and future team members.”

The Australian HR Awards recognise and highlight the outstanding achievements of those at the forefront of industry best practice and leadership.

Winners in each category will be announced on Friday 6 September in Sydney.
