NSW latest coronavirus data as at 9 June

As at 8pm Monday 8 June 2020, there have been two new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed since 8pm 7 June, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 3,114.

There were 4,743 tests carried out in the reporting period, compared with 5,950 in the previous 24 hours. Nearly 576,000 COVID 19 tests have been carried out in NSW.
NSW Health would like to thank those with symptoms for coming forward, getting tested and ensuring cases in the community are identified as quickly as possible.

Confirmed cases (incl. interstate residents in NSW health care facilities) 3,114
Deaths (in NSW from confirmed cases) 50
Cases reported recovered2,729
Total tests carried out 575,865

Both of the new cases today are travellers in hotel quarantine.

The case under investigation from yesterday is believed to be most likely acquired overseas some weeks ago, and to be no longer infectious. NSW Health is waiting for results of a blood test to show whether the positive swab result represents an old infection.

A precautionary approach has been taken and the case is in isolation, and all close contacts are in self-isolation and are being tested.

There are currently 66 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health, and none are in intensive care.

In NSW, 2,729 people have recovered from COVID-19.

The virus is likely to be still circulating in the community. People with mild symptoms or those who show no obvious symptoms can unknowingly pass it to others.

With the easing of restrictions, it remains essential that everyone maintains social distancing of 1.5m and regularly washes their hands to minimise the risk of virus transmission.

NSW Health is again urging anyone feeling unwell – even with the mildest of symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat – to isolate from others and get tested.
