NSW police appeal after stolen vehicle used in robberies

Police are appealing for public assistance after a stolen vehicle was used in number of incidents in the Riverina over the weekend.

About 9:30pm yesterday (Saturday 29 December 2018), a 71-year-old woman was walking along Forsyth Street, Wagga Wagga, when a man approached her and grabbed her handbag.

The man ran off with the bag and got into the rear of a nearby Mitsubishi ASX and sped off.

Officers from Riverina Police District attended and established a crime scene; the vehicle was identified as one stolen from Coolamon earlier in the day.

About 12:20am (Sunday 30 December 2018) the stolen Mitsubishi was used in the ram-raid robbery of a bottle shop in Forsyth Street, Wagga Wagga.

Four people entered the store and have taken a quantity of alcohol and cigarettes before leaving the scene in the same vehicle.

Just before 2am (Sunday 30 December 2018) the Mitsubishi was observed by police at Pinaroo Drive, Glenfield Park, and a pursuit was initiated, however, it was terminated a short time later.

About 5:30am (Sunday 30 December 2018), the Mitsubishi was located by police burnt out in Malta Crescent, Ashmont.
