NSW police appeal after two children injured in trail bike hit and run near Campbelltown

Police are appealing for information after a boy was left with a serious leg injury when he was struck by a trail bike in Sydney’s south west yesterday.

About 2.40pm (Saturday 2 May 2020), officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were called to Rangers Road, St Helens, following reports an unregistered Yamaha YZ125 had hit two young children before fleeing the scene.

Police have been told an eight-year-old boy was riding a trail bike at the location, when the Yamaha –ridden by an unknown person – became airborne and landed on the ground before hitting the boy.

The Yamaha also hit a second trail bike, that was being ridden by an 11-year-old girl.

The boy, from Claymore, was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition and the girl, also from Claymore, was taken to Campbelltown Hospital where she was later released pending further examination.

Police attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Three bikes were seized from the location.
