NSW police appeal for information after robbery at Griffith

Police are appealing for information following the alleged robbery and assault of a man in the NSW Riverina region.

This morning sometime before 1.30am (Thursday 26 December 2019), a 19-year-old man from Yoongali got into a car with four males on Davidson Place, Griffith, for a prearranged lift to his home.

The vehicle travelled along Davidson Place, before it pulled over a short distance away on Collier Street.

The man was directed to get out of the car and was joined by two of the other passengers.

It is alleged the two males attempted to steal the man’s watch, which instigated a scuffle between the group.

The pair allegedly robbed the man of a shirt and necklace, before he escaped the melee and ran towards the intersection of Ebert Street and McKay Avenue, where he contacted police.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

The man was taken to Griffith Police Station where he was met by NSW Ambulance paramedics and treated for minor injuries.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have knowledge about the alleged robbery to contact Griffith Police on 6969 4299 or Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.

Information is treated in strict confidence.
