NSW police arrest four people after pursuit at Queanbeyan

Three men and a teenage girl have been arrested following a pursuit in Queanbeyan earlier today.

About 11.35am (Wednesday 9 September 2020), police were alerted to a stolen Ford sedan – that had been stolen from the ACT – travelling north on the Federal Highway at Sutton.

Officers from Monaro Police District sighted the vehicle and attempted to pull it over and, when it failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

The vehicle stopped on Sutton Road, near the Federal Highway, and all four occupants ran from the car.

Police arrested a 20-year-old man in nearby bushland, along with two men aged 32 and 24, and a 16-year-old girl.

Police will allege the 32-year-old man and the teenage girl were both found to be in possession of cannabis and ‘ice’ and were carrying more than $1500 in cash.

They were all taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where the following charges were laid:

  • The 32-year-old man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, drive conveyance taken without consent, resist officer in execution of duty, possess prohibited drug (x2), and deal in proceeds of crime. He was refused bail and will appear in Queanbeyan Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 9 September 2020).
  • The 24-year-old man was charged with being carried in a conveyance taken without consent. He was refused bail and will appear in Queanbeyan Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 9 September 2020).
  • The 16-year-old girl was charged with being carried in a conveyance taken without consent, possession prohibited drug, and deal in proceeds of crime. She was given conditional bail and is due to appear in a Children’s Court on Wednesday 30 September 2020.
  • The 20-year-old man is wanted for a number of offences in the ACT. Officers from ACT Police will attend Queanbeyan Local Court tomorrow where they will be seeking his extradition.
