Six people have been arrested during a police operation targeting illicit drug supply on the state’s North Coast.
In November 2020, detectives attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District established Strike Force Goodparla to investigate the distribution of illicit drugs including methylamphetamine and cocaine in the region.
Police allege the operation is being run by members of an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG).
During the course of the investigation, police have seized over $400,000 in cocaine and methylamphetamine.
Last Thursday (17 June 2021), strike force officers executed three search warrants in the Coffs Harbour area.
Two men – aged 40 and 43 – were arrested and are expected to be charged.
Following further inquiries, strike force detectives, assisted by officers from State Crime Command’s the Raptor Squad, executed search warrants at eight premises within the Coffs Harbour area from 6am today (Wednesday 23 June 2021).
During today’s operation four people were arrested, including three men – 29, 42 and 54 – and a 46-year-old woman.
They have been taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where they are expected to be charged.
Also seized today were three cars, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, jet ski and two trail bikes, believed to be the proceeds of crime.
Coffs/Clarence Police District Crime Manager, Detective Chief Inspector Guy Flaherty, said the operation is targeting organised crime in the local area.
“This is a demonstration of the ongoing investigation into drug supply in the Coffs area and, in particular, its links to organised crime and outlaw motorcycle gangs,” Det Ch Insp Flaherty said.
Inquiries are continuing.
