NSW police charge five with drug supply at Lake Illawarra

Five men have been charged following an investigation into drug supply on the state’s south coast.

In January 2019 Strike Force Tulare was established by officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the Shellharbour area.

About 4.30pm yesterday (Thursday 17 October 2019) two men were arrested during an alleged drug transaction in Shellharbour.

About 6.30pm three men were arrested in Albion Park Rail during a second alleged drug transaction.

With the assistance of officers attached to Wollongong Police District and the Southern Region Enforcement Squad, strike force investigators executed five search warrants at residential premises in Mt Warrigal (x2), Shellharbour and Unanderra.

Officers located and seized a quantity of drugs and weapons.

An 18-year-old man was charged with 13 counts of supply prohibited drugs, two counts of possess prohibited weapon (tasers) and one count of supply commercial quantity. He was refused bail and is due to re-appear before Wollongong Local Court on 23 October 2019.

A 27-year-old man was charged with supply commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug and deal in proceeds of crime. He was refused bail and is due to re-appear before Wollongong Local Court on 23 October 2019.

A 21-year-old man was charged with supply commercial quantity, knowingly take part in commercial supply, ongoing supply of prohibited drugs and four counts of supply prohibited drugs. He was refused bail and is due to re-appear before Wollongong Local Court on 23 October 2019.

A 22-year-old man was charged with take part in the supply of prohibited drug and custody of knife in public place. He was refused bail and is due to re-appear before Wollongong Local Court on 23 October 2019.

A 19-year-old man was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drugs. He is due to face Port Kembla Local Court on 13 November 2019.

Police inquiries are continuing, and further charges are expected to be laid.
