NSW police charge four after $900,000 cash and cannabis seized

Three men will appear in court today charged after cannabis worth nearly $120,000 and $900,000 cash was seized from properties across Sydney following an investigation by Penrith RES.

In May this year, officers from Penrith Region Enforcement Squad (RES) commenced an investigation under Strike Force Unara into a criminal syndicate involved in the large commercial supply of cannabis across NSW.

Following extensive inquiries, Penrith RES investigators, with assistance from the North West and Central Metropolitan Region Operations Support Groups (OSG), executed five search warrants yesterday (Thursday 10 December 2020) in Rose Bay, Glendenning, Doonside, Kings Park and Penrith.

During the search, police located more than $900,000 cash and 15 kilograms of cannabis, with an estimated potential street value of $120,000.

Officers also seized electronic storage devices, laptops, mobile phones, documentation, clothing and equipment consistent with the supply of prohibited drugs.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at Glendenning and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), three counts of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, supply prohibited drug and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity. He was refused bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court today (Friday 11 December 2020).

A 32-year-old man was arrested at Glendenning and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station. He was charged with supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, deal with property proceeds of crime and possess prohibited drug. The man was refused bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court today.

A 30-year-old man was arrested at Penrith and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity) and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity. He was refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court today.

A 59-year-old woman was arrested at Glendenning and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where she was charged with take part supply prohibited drug, supply cannabis, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity and possess prohibited drug. She was granted conditional bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday 27 January 2021.

Police will allege in court that between October and December, the group acquired over 160 kilograms of Cannabis from South Australia via domestic mail services and supplied it across Sydney, with an estimated potential street value of approximately $1.2 million.
