NSW police charge four over drug supply at Wagga Wagga

Police have charged four people over the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in the state’s Riverina region.

Strike Force Crestreef was established in July last year by Riverina Police District’s Proactive Crime Team, Criminal Investigation Unit and Licencing Office, to investigate the alleged supply of illicit substances – namely cocaine and MDMA – in licenced premises in the Wagga Wagga CBD.

Following extensive inquiries, about 6.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 13 April 2022), officers attached to Riverina Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Horsley Street, Kooringal, where they seized $16,500 cash, an extendable baton and cannabis.

A 23-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with four counts of supply prohibited drug, one count of supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, deal with proceeds of crime, possess prohibited weapon, and possess prohibited drug.

About 8.40pm, police executed a search warrant at a home on Mumford Street, Ashmont, where they seized cocaine and cannabis, as well as cash. A 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with six counts of supply prohibited drug, one count of supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

Police will allege in court that the man supplied prohibited drugs whilst on duty at a licensed premises on Baylis Street, Wagga Wagga.

The 23-year-old man from Kooringal was granted conditional bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 29 June 2022.

The 23-year-old man from Ashmont was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (14 April 2022).

Following further inquiries, two more men were arrested over their alleged roles in the supply of prohibited drugs:

  • A 29-year-old man was arrested at a home on Higgins Avenue and charged with one count of supply prohibited drug.
  • A 22-year-old man was arrested at a home in Churchill Avenue and charged with supply prohibited drug.

Both were granted conditional bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 29 June 2022.
