NSW police charge four over roles in inner-city heroin supply syndicate

Surry Hills detectives have charged four people – including an older couple – following an investigation into the supply of heroin in the local area.

In November 2020, detectives from Surry Hills Police Area Command established Strike Force Waldegrave to investigate the supply of heroin across Sydney’s inner suburbs.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 44-year-old man during a vehicle stop on Anzac Parade, Chifley, just after 6.30am yesterday (Wednesday 24 February 2021).

The 44-year-old Hilllvue man was taken to Maroubra Police Station, where he was charged with taking part in supplying prohibited drug (greater than commercial quantity).

He was refused bail and appeared at Waverley Local Court yesterday where he was again refused bail to appear at Central Local Court on Tuesday 20 April 2021.

A short time after the arrest, strike force detectives, with the assistance of Central Metropolitan Region’s ODIN and the Dog Unit, executed a search warrant at a unit at Waterloo.

During the search, police seized heroin, a mobile phone, a number of SIM cards, prescription medications, and a number of laser pointers.

A 41-year-old man was arrested at the location and taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with taking part in the supply of a prohibited drug (greater than commercial quantity), supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, and deal with the proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court today (Thursday 25 February 2021).

Just after 8am, detectives arrested a 72-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman at a home at Surry Hills and took them to Surry Hills Police Station.

They were both charged with supply prohibited drug greater (commercial quantity), and refused bail to appear in Central Local Court today (Thursday 25 February 2021).
