NSW police charge man after being detained by occupant during break-in at Wellington

A man has faced court after allegedly attempting to break into a home and threatening the occupant in the state’s Orana Region.

About 5.30am on Saturday (7 December 2019), the 76-year-old male occupant of a home on Gobolion Street at Wellington was alerted to a man outside.

The man is alleged to have been attempting to enter the front door but left after he was confronted by the occupant.

Shortly after, the occupant found the man allegedly attempting to gain entry to the house through a bathroom window.

He is alleged to have threatened the occupant while being detained.

Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District attended and arrested the 26-year-old.

He was taken to Wellington Police Station and charged with break and enter dwelling with intent to commit serious indictable offences, intimidation and breach of conditional bail.

The man appeared at Dubbo Local Court yesterday (9 December 2019) and was refused bail to reappear at Wellington Local Court on Tuesday 21 January 2020.
