NSW police charge man after break-in; pursuit in stolen vehicle at Moree

A man will appear in court today following an aggravated break-in and pursuit in a stolen vehicle in the state’s north.

Between 10pm on Monday (25 April 2022) and 7am on Tuesday (26 April 2022), a man forced entry into a home on Old Narrabri Road, Moree, and stole a white Toyota Hilux.

The occupant was home asleep at the time and was uninjured.

Officers attached to New England Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

About 12.30am on Wednesday (27 April 2022), officers attached to New England Police District were patrolling the streets of Moree, where they attempted to stop the Toyota on Adelaide Street.

The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated. It was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

Following inquiries, just after 2pm yesterday (Wednesday 27 April 2022), a 21-year-old man was arrested in Ortho Street, Inverell, following s short foot pursuit.

He was taken to Inverell Police Station and charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and possess prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail to appear at Inverell Local Court today (Thursday 28 April 2022).
