NSW police charge man after driving 61km/h over speed limit

A man has been charged and his licence suspended after a bike was detected travelling 61km/h over the speed limit in Sydney’s north west yesterday.

About 1.30am (Sunday 12 December 2021), officers attached to Mt Druitt Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement duties on the M7 Motorway, Dean Park, when they allegedly detected a white Kawasaki ZX1000R travelling at 161km/hr in a signposted 100km/hr area.

Police followed the bike and allegedly observed it to reach an estimated speed of 250km/hr.

The bike was stopped shortly after turning onto the Sunnyholt Road offramp.

Police spoke with the 21-year-old rider who was charged by way of a Court Attendance Notice for exceed speed over 45km/h and drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.

The Jordan Springs man is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday 8 February 2022

Police also suspended and seized the man’s licence.
