NSW police charge man after firearm seized at Wollongong

Police have charged a man after discovering a firearm at his home in Wollongong today.

About 1.55pm (Thursday 20 February 2020), officers from Wollongong Police District attended a unit on Myuna Way, Mangerton.

They arrested a 27-year-old man over a driving matter, following a short struggle.

Police conducted a subsequent search of the unit, where they located and seized a firearm.

The man was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with resist officer in execution of duty, escape police custody, possess unregistered firearm, not keep firearm safely, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permission.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court tomorrow (Friday 21 February 2020).
