NSW police charge man after firearms, motorbike stolen at Wellington

A man has been charged following an investigation into the theft of firearms and a motorbike from a shed in the state’s Orana Region in October.

Sometime between Monday 20 September 2019 and Tuesday 1 October 2019, unknown persons gained entry to the rear shed of a home on Simpson Street at Wellington and stole multiple items, including firearms, ammunition and a motorbike.

Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police attended a home on Elizabeth Street at Wellington about 4.30pm on Tuesday 1 October 2019, where it is alleged four firearms were located and seized.

Yesterday (Monday 9 December 2019), officers attended a correctional centre in Wellington where they arrested a 20-year-old man in relation to the offence.

He was taken to Wellington Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter, and possess unauthorised firearm.

He was bail refused to appear before Wellington Local Court on Tuesday 17 December 2019.
