NSW police charge man after pursuit at Narromine

A man has been charged following a pursuit with police in the Orana Region last week.

About 11.20pm on Thursday (6 February 2020), officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District were patrolling Narromine CBD, when they saw a Ford Falcon travelling on Burraway Street.

Officers attempted to stop the Ford after checks revealed it was displaying plates belonging to another vehicle.

The driver failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated, travelling through several streets and properties in Narromine.

Police deployed road spikes and the Ford came to a stop on an Old Backwater Road property.

The driver and passenger fled on foot and were arrested after a short foot pursuit. Both were taken to Dubbo Police Station.

The driver, a 23-year-old man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, use unregistered motor vehicle on road, use registrable vehicle not display authorised number-plates, destroy or damage property, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

He appeared at Dubbo Local Court on Friday (7 February 2020) where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Wednesday 12 February 2020.

The passenger, a 29-year-old woman was released following further inquiries.
