A man will face court today following two pursuits across Sydney’s south west yesterday.
Just before 2.20pm (Tuesday 1 December 2020), officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attempted to stop an Isuzu flat top truck on Eucalyptus Street, Macquarie Fields.
When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit commenced, however, it was terminated due to safety concerns.
Shortly after, the truck was seen driving around Macquarie Fields Police Station, allegedly attempting to hit police vehicles and other cars.
A second pursuit commenced which travelled through several suburbs including Macquarie Fields, Ingleburn, Minto and Leumeah, before the truck crashed into the front fence of a home on Hoddle Avenue at Bradbury and the driver fled.
A 26-year-old man was arrested with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit, under a home on Hoddle Avenue.
He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station, before being taken to Campbelltown Hospital for treatment.
He was later released and returned to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit (x2), dangerous driving, use offensive weapon to avoid lawful detention, assault police, resist arrest, custody of a knife in a public place, drive while suspended, fail to stop and assist after impact cause injury (x2), not give particulars to other driver (x2), not give particulars to owner of damaged property, and possess prohibited drug.
He was also charged with two outstanding warrants.
He was refused bail and will appear in Campbelltown Local Court today (Wednesday 2 December 2020).
