NSW police charge man after replica firearms seized- Rozelle

A man has been charged after two replica firearms were seized during a vehicle stop in Sydney’s Inner West.

About 7.15pm (Wednesday 9 February 2022), officers attached to Leichhardt Highway Patrol were conducting mobile traffic enforcement duties when they stopped a white MG hatchback on Evans Street, Rozelle.

The 49-year-old driver was subjected to a roadside drug test which proved positive, and the man was arrested.

Checks also revealed the man’s drivers’ licence was suspended and, during a subsequent search of the vehicle, police located two black replica pistols.

These were seized and will undergo forensic examination.

The man was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with two counts of possess unauthorised pistol and drive motor vehicle while licence suspended.

He was refused bail to appear before Newtown Local Court today (Thursday 10 February 2022).
