NSW police charge man after sexual act at Tweed Heads

A man will appear in court today charged over an alleged sexual act on the state’s far north coast earlier this week.

Police will allege about 10.30am on Tuesday 14 June 2022, a man was observed performing a lewd act at a playground near Jack Evans Boat Harbour, Tweed Heads.

The incident was reported to police who commenced an investigation.

About 1pm yesterday (Thursday 16 June 2022), officers attached to Tweed/ Byron Police District spoke to a man on Boundary Street, Tweed Heads.

Upon searching the man, police located a pair of binoculars, two knives and items believed to be stolen including a bike and identification cards.

The 44-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with carry out sexual act with another without consent, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle), and custody of knife in public place.

The Tweed Heads man was refused bail to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court today (Friday 17 June 2022).
