NSW police charge man over armed robbery at Wauchope

A man has faced court today charged over an alleged armed robbery on the mid north coast.

About 9.15pm (Sunday 8 March 2020), a man, armed with a firearm, entered a service station and threatened the employee, a 20-year-old man.

The armed man allegedly stole cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene towards Pead Street.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District attended a short time later and established a crime scene.

Following extensive inquiries, officers attended a premises on Old Kempsey Road, Gum Scrub, and arrested a 22-year-old man about 3.10pm yesterday (Monday 9 March 2020).

He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station, where he was charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, and possess unregistered firearm.

The man was refused bail to face Port Macquarie Local Court today (Tuesday 10 March 2020) where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 7 May 2020.
