NSW police charge man over assault and sexual touching of teenage girls at Rockdale

A man will appear in court today charged following an investigation into the alleged assault and sexual touching of two teenagers in Sydney’s south last year.

About 6.10pm on Saturday 28 December 2019, two 16-year-old girls were waiting for a bus on Geeves Avenue, Rockdale, when they were approached by an unknown man.

Police will allege in court that the man kissed one of the girl’s hands, before sexually touching the other.

The man left the scene and the incident was reported to officers from St George Police Area Command, who commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 78-year-old man was arrested at Rockdale Railway Station about 4pm on Sunday 17 May 2020.

He was taken to Kogarah Police Station and charged with sexual touching and two counts of common assault.

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court today (Tuesday 4 August 2020).
