NSW police charge man over break-in at hotel at Albury

A man has been charged over an alleged break and enter in the state’s south earlier this year.

About 3.20am on Tuesday 17 May 2022, a man forced entry into a hotel on Borella Road, East Albury, damaging property and taking cash from two safes within the premises.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

As part of ongoing investigations, police executed a search warrant at a home in Albury last month (Wednesday 13 July), allegedly locating and seizing a home-made silencer.

Following further inquiries, about 6.45am today (Tuesday 23 August 2022), police re-attended the home and arrested a 40-year-old man.

He was taken to Albury Police Station where he was charged with one count each of break, enter and steal – serious indictable offence, and possess prohibited weapon without permit.

The Albury man was refused bail and appeared at Albury Local Court today, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Tuesday 18 October 2022.
