NSW police charge man over sex assault on cruise boat in Sydney Harbour

A man has appeared in court charged over an alleged sexual assault on a privately charted cruise boat on Sydney Harbour last month.

Detectives from the Marine Area Command (MAC) commenced an investigation following reports a woman was sexually assaulted during a Christmas party on board a private charter motor cruiser on Wednesday 22 December 2021.

The vessel docked at the Finger Wharf, Woolloomooloo, and officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command were notified.

They established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the incident before the matter was referred to the MAC.

Following an extensive investigation by MAC detectives, a 35-year-old man was arrested at Kings Cross Police Station about 7.45am yesterday (Thursday 6 January 2022).

He was charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

The Cronulla man appeared at Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Thursday 6 January 2022), where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 10 March 2022.
