NSW police charge man over sexual touching of teenage girl on bus near Bankstown

Police have charged a man over the alleged sexual touching of a teenage girl travelling on a bus near Bankstown earlier this month.

Just after 1pm on Thursday 15 October 2020, a 16-year-old girl was travelling on a bus between Bankstown and Yagoona, when an unknown man sat next to her and attempted to engage her in conversation.

The man allegedly sexually touched the girl multiple times, before alighting from the bus a short time later.

The incident was reported to officers from Bankstown Police Area Command later that day, who commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, a 33-year-old man was arrested at a home at Padstow about 6.30pm yesterday (Thursday 29 October 2020).

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with sexually touch another person without consent and common assault.

The man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Friday 30 October 2020).
