NSW police charge man with firearms, prohibited weapons and drug offences

A man will face court after being charged with firearms and weapons offences on the state’s Mid North Coast.

About 6.30pm yesterday (Friday 2 September 2022), officers from Mid North Coast Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Ocean Street, South West Rocks.

During a search of the premises, police allegedly seized 20 gel blasters, two firearms, seven extendable batons, three butterfly knives, two tasers, two laser pointers, throw knives, knuckle dusters, a paintball gun, and cannabis.

The items will undergo further examination.

A 35-year-old man was arrested at the premises and taken to Kempsey Police Station.

The man was charged with 29 offences, including:

Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (x21)

Possess more than 3 unregistered firearms, 1 is prohibited/pistol – serious indictable offence (x2)

Possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority (x2)

Possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm

Not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited firearm

Possess paintball marker outside authorised paintball venue

Possess prohibited drug

The South West Rocks man was refused bail and appeared at Port Macquarie Local Court today (Saturday 3 September 2022), where he was formally refused bail and is due to appear at Kempsey Local Court on Monday (5 September 2022).
