NSW police charge man with high range PCA

A man has been charged with high-range drink-driving after a crash in Sydney’s west this morning.

Just after 2.30am today (Wednesday 3 November 2021), emergency services were called to a business on the Great Western Highway at Mays Hill, following reports that a vehicle had crashed in to a shop front before being driven from the scene.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and observed extensive damage to the shop.

Police patrolled the area and located an abandoned white Toyota Hilux nearby at Rees Street, with extensive damage to the front of the car.

With the assistance of the Dog unit, the driver – a 37-year-old man – presented himself to police.

He was subjected to a roadside breath test and allegedly returned a positive result.

The Mays Hill man was arrested and taken to Granville Police Station for secondary breath analysis, which returned a reading of 0.171.

His NSW drivers’ licence was suspended, and he was subsequently issued a Court Attendance Notice (CAN) for drive with high range PCA and negligent driving (not occasioning death or GBH).

He is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on 7 December 2021.
