NSW police charge man with murder

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Sydney’s south west last night.

About 8.45pm (Thursday 14 March 2019), emergency services were called to Sydney Luker Road, Cabramatta West, after reports a man was hit by a car.

It’s alleged the driver deliberately hit the man with a car before getting out and repeatedly striking him with an axe.

The 59-year-old man died at the scene.

It’s believed the men were known to each other.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command established a crime scene which has been examined by specialist officers and detectives.

A 75-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Fairfield Police Station before being taken to Liverpool Hospital for an unrelated medical condition.

After being released from hospital, he was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with murder.

The Cabramatta man has been refused bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court today (Friday 15 March 2019).
