NSW police charge man with numerous driving offences at Kempsey

A man will face court today, charged over numerous traffic offences on the state’s Mid North Coast.

About 9.30am yesterday (Friday 26 August 2022), officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District responded to reports of a white Ford Ranger utility driving dangerously on the M1 near Kempsey.

Police were told that the driver of the Ford Ranger – a 51-year-old man – allegedly forced a Kia Sportage to the side of the road, before threatening the family inside.

When another male came to assist the family, the man allegedly threatened him, before stealing his Mitsubishi Triton and fleeing the scene.

Following inquiries, police stopped the vehicle a short time later on the M1 at Donnellyville and arrested the driver.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital and subjected to mandatory blood and urine testing, then taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with:

  • Six counts of drive manner dangerous,
  • four courts of not exchange particulars,
  • not give particulars to police,
  • assault with intent to take motor vehicle, and,
  • resist officer in execution of duty.

The man was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Bail Court today (Saturday 27 August 2022).
