NSW police charge teen over attempted armed robbery at Armidale

A teenager has been charged following investigations into an alleged attempted armed robbery in the state’s Northern Tablelands at weekend.

About 5.40am on Saturday (29 August 2020), an unknown man – armed with a knife – entered a woman’s vehicle while she was parked on Douglas Street, Armidale.

Police have been told the man threatened the woman and demanded her vehicle, before she sounded the horn and the man fled on foot.

Officers attached to New England Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 16-year-old boy at Armidale about 10.50am on Thursday (3 September 2020).

He was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, aggravated break and enter with intent and three counts of larceny.

The teenager was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Friday 4 September 2020).
