NSW police charge teen over numerous vehicle and property thefts

A teenager will face court today, charged by the Financial Crimes Squad’s Motor Unit over his alleged role in numerous vehicle thefts and aggravated break and enters committed across Sydney last year.

Last year, detectives from Northern Beaches Police Area Command established Strike Force Karrabul to investigate several motor vehicle thefts and other crime in the local area.

As part of ongoing inquiries, detectives seized electronic devices, clothing, and other items, during search warrants at homes in Condell Park and Holsworthy last November (2021).

The matter was subsequently referred to detectives from the State Crime Command’s Financial Crime Squad, who made further inquiries under Strike Force Duncan.

Strike Force Duncan has been established to investigate the supply of stolen luxury motor vehicles to members of organised crime networks.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives attended a correctional centre at Silverwater and arrested an 18-year-old man shortly before 10am yesterday (Thursday 20 October 2022).

He has since been charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, aggravated enter dwelling in company intent to steal, aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal, receive property-theft, two counts steal motor vehicle, two counts receive motor vehicle part, dishonestly obtain property by deception, larceny, and receive or dispose stolen property.

Police will allege in court the teen was involved in several aggravated break and enter and vehicle theft incidents across Sydney between June and November 2021.

The teen was remanded in custody and is due to appear at a children’s court later today (Friday 21 October 2022).
