NSW police charge three after pursuit ends in crash at Liverpool

Three men have been arrested after a pursuit in Sydney’s southwest overnight that ended in a crash.

About 10.30pm yesterday (Saturday 30 July 2022), officers from Campbelltown Traffic and Highway Patrol attempted to stop a red Land Rover station wagon travelling at excessive speed on Williamson Road, Ingleburn.

When the Land Rover failed to stop a pursuit was initiated.

At the intersection of Brickmakers Road and Nuwarra Road, Moorebank, the Land Rover mounted the footpath and crashed into a power pole.

The driver – a 17-year-old male – and two male passengers – aged 18 and 19 were uninjured and arrested after a short foot pursuit.

It was later established that the Land Rover was allegedly stolen from Voyager Point on Thursday 26 July 2022.

All three were taken to Liverpool Police Station, where the driver was charged with the following:

Drive whilst suspended – 1st offence

Not give particulars to other driver

Negligent driving (not occasioning death or GBH).

Police pursuit – not stop – Drive dangerously – 1st offence

Not stop vehicle when directed to do so

Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner

He was refused bail to appear in a children’s court later today (Sunday 31 July 2022).

The passengers were charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road and drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.
