Three people have been charged following investigations into traffic and property-related offences in the state’s north east.
Operation Western Mongoose was established in April 2022 to investigate property offences, break and enters, and vehicle thefts throughout Oxley Police District.
Over the past week of the operation, officers arrested two teenagers – aged 15 and 16. Both teens have been charged with various property and traffic-related offences and are due to appear before children’s court at a later date.
Additionally, about 12.40pm on Tuesday (14 June 2022), officers executed a search warrant at a home in Sussex Street, West Tamworth, in relation to property and traffic-related offences in Tamworth.
Police arrested a 19-year-old man at a nearby home, where he was taken to Tamworth Police Station.
He was charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal, three counts of destroy or damage property, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
The man was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday 29 June 2022.
Investigations will continue under Operation Western Mongoose.
Operation Western Mongoose consists of officers from the Proactive Crime Team, Detectives, Crime Prevention Unit within Oxley Police District, Western Region Enforcement Squad, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Youth Command and Dog Unit.
