NSW police charge two after school bus assault

A man and a woman have been charged after an incident on a bus in Lane Cove earlier this week.

About 6pm (Wednesday 21 November 2019), police attended Burns Bay Road following reports of an assault involving a school student.

It is alleged a 20-year-old man boarded a bus after a minor collision between his car, a black BMW, and the bus.

It is alleged the man approached a 15-year-old student and struck the boy in the face. He is also alleged to have threatened a second, 13-year-old student.

The 15-year-old boy sustained bruising, a laceration to his eye and a chipped tooth.

The man left the scene in his car and officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command were alerted to the incident. A short time later, police located the BMW and the driver in an underground carpark nearby.

His details were recorded, and he was released pending further inquiries.

At 6pm yesterday (Thursday 21 November 2019), the 20-year-old man attended Chatswood Police Station where he was arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, affray, not give way to bus and failing to exchange particulars.

Following further inquiries, at 11.30pm yesterday, a 19-year-old woman also attended Chatswood Police Station where she was charged with affray in relation to the bus incident.

Both the man and woman were granted conditional bail to appear in Hornsby Local Court on Thursday 12 December 2019.
