NSW police charge two men over assault of security guards at Orange

Two men have been charged following the alleged assault of security guards in the state’s Central Talelands yesterday.

Shortly before 1am (Sunday 2 August 2020), a 17-year-old boy and two men – aged 22 and 61 – were refused entry to a licensed premises on Lords Place at Orange.

The trio walked to a nearby taxi rank where it’s alleged they verbally abused two security guards.

Police have been told one of the security guards, a 30-year-old man, was punched and kicked before the second guard, a 24-year-old man, was also assaulted.

It is alleged a bystander – a 49-year-old woman – was pushed to the chest, causing her to fall to the ground and hit her head.

The two security guards were taken to Orange Base Hospital for treatment to minor injuries, while the woman remains in hospital with a non-life threatening head injury.

Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and arrested two men – aged 22 and 61 – on Molong Road.

The older man was charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (x2).

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Orange Local Court on Monday 21 September 2020.

The younger man was charged with reckless wounding, affray, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (x3).

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Orange Local Court on Monday 7 September 2020.
