NSW police charge two with drug supply at Berkeley

Two people have been charged following an investigation into the cultivation of cannabis in the Illawarra region.

About 10am yesterday (Wednesday 13 November) officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Essex Street, Berkeley.

Detectives located an established hydroponic setup in a shed to the rear of the property containing eighteen cannabis plants, a jar containing cannabis and about 10kg of loose cannabis leaf.

A 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with cultivate by enhanced indoor means prohibited plant for commercial purpose and supply prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to face Port Kembla Local Court on 8 January 2019.

A second man – aged 38 – was arrested about 9pm and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with cultivate by enhanced indoor means prohibited plant for commercial purpose and supply prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (Thursday 14 November 2019).
