NSW police charge woman after hotel fire

A woman has been charged following a fire at a hotel in Sydney’s south west yesterday.

Just before 8.30am (Saturday 18 January 2020), emergency services were called to a hotel on the Hume Highway, Bass Hill, following reports of a fire.

The fire was extinguished, and no one was injured.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, a 40-year-old woman was arrested at a home in Polding Street, Fairfield, about 12.50pm today (Sunday 19 January 2020).

She was taken to Bankstown Police Station, where she was charged with damage property by fire.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court tomorrow (Monday 20 January 2020).
