NSW police charge woman after pursuit in Moree

A woman will face court today charged with multiple driving offences following a pursuit in the state’s north east.

About 12pm yesterday (Monday 31 August 2020), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a white Toyota Rav 4 on Edward Street, Moree, after checks revealed it had an expired registration.

When the Rav 4 allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

Police will allege the vehicle reached speeds of up to 100km/h in a signposted 50km/h zone throughout Moree, and the pursuit was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.

A short time later, the vehicle was found still running in Chester Street where it was seized for forensic examination.

About 4.40pm yesterday, a 25-year-old woman was arrested at Moree Police Station.

She was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, class A motor vehicle exceed speed > 45km/h, not comply P1 licence-no P plates, use unregistered class A motor vehicle on road, use uninsured motor vehicle and use vehicle on road or road related area motor vehicle tax not paid.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Moree Local Court today (Tuesday 1 September 2020).
